An error box appears containing "The procedure entry point SHGetSpecialFolderPathA could not be located in the dynamic link library shell32.dll". The firefox process then dies. The trunk builds are unaffected. This is bug 251341 and this bug is still marked as UNCONFIRMED (though I can confirm it). Any kind soul who can help us people who have to suffer with Win NT4 and have now the increased burden of not having the latest improvements in Firefox, is most welcome.
Update This bug is a dupe of bug 246616, which has a patch (checked in in trunk) but not on the aviary branch. So now all we need is the patch to be checked in in the branch.
This is more a WinNT than ff problem see comments in the bug
ReplyDeleteBut then why did it work for the builds from a month ago, and why is it still working for the trunk builds?
ReplyDeleteDup of bug 246616 that already as a patch for this. The patch is in the trunk but not yet in the aviary.
ReplyDeleteSo you need someone with the right authorization to fix the aviary branch.
BTW the trunk build already has the fix in, that's why they still work
ReplyDeleteJust installed firefox 1.0 on NT4 sp6. Installation problem: the firefox installer detects a process called firefox.exe (this is part of the installation) running and a dialog box pops up suggesting that Mozilla Firefox is running and has to be closed.
ReplyDeleteInstallation goes on and completes after "firefox.exe" is killed, but firefox won't run. No error messages whatsoever.
